Camp Loll Family Party!

Yesterday, we had the awesome opportunity to get together with some people that I worked with at Camp Loll about 10 years ago. We had a little get-together at our house and it was so much fun! We manage to try and get together at least once a year. We had dinner and then just sat around and reminisced about the good ol' days at Camp Loll while eating Starburst and Jayne's delicious truffle cake. It's amazing how much can happen in 10 years! (like lots of kids!) I just love these girls and am grateful for the opportunity I've had to associate with them over the years. I was talking with my husband last night about how awesome it is to think of people you meet in your life and the great impact they have had on your life. I definitely would not be the same without having worked with these girls at camp! Here are some cute pics from the evening.....

Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon!

This last Saturday was the Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon! My sister, Rhonda and I have been training all summer for triathlons and were pretty stoked to do this one! Two years ago, we did this one, and we both did pretty good. Needless to say, it was a great experience, so we came back for more! It is also a great memory for Cortney and I because it was during that triathlon that I decided that I wanted to date Cortney for sure! And now we're married :)

We headed up on friday evening and stopped off at Bear Lake Pizza to pick up our race packets. We also got some yummy garlic breadsticks smothered in cheese! Yeah! When we first arrived at Bear Lake Pizza (in Garden City, Utah), it was blowing like crazy. By the time we got our packets and came back outside, it was beginning to pour! We stayed at our Aunt's house in Bloomington, Idaho, about 20 miles north of there, and by the time we got to her house, the storm had subsided. Nevertheless, we were worried that the race might be cancelled, due to the weather forecast and the recent downpour we escaped.

This is the rainbow that appeared as we got to our Aunt's house....

We hung out and talked to our Aunt Marcia and Uncle Mark until it was time to go to bed. I had a pretty good feeling that the weather was going to be good in the morning. And we both hoped it would be! I slept the best I ever had the night before a race. When we woke up at 5am, it was pouring rain outside and there was tons of lightening and thunder. Dang. We got dressed and ready to go to the race. As we were loading up our stuff, we got drenched because of the downpour. When we loaded up our bikes, it began hailing. Yes, hailing!

As we drove to Rendezvous Beach (about 45 minutes away), we talked about how we should just go home because it had rained so hard, and even if it wasn't raining, the roads would still be dangerously slippery. Basically, we both had convinced ourselves that we weren't going to do the race. As we got closer and closer, the sky began to clear up. When we reached the race venue, there was a big long line of cars and it looked as though everything was still good to go - in other words, the race was not cancelled. We were going to do the race after all! We got all of our stuff ready to go and prepared ourselves for the race!

It ended up being a very beautiful morning and awesome weather for a race!

Pumped for the race!

Sisters!
Me and mah hunny!

Ready to go!

Heading to the finish line!

Almost done!
We definitely improved our times! Rhonda still beat me by 2 minutes, but I was able to cut 9 minutes off my Echo triathlon time! Woot! Our goal is to keep training throughout the winter so we can stay in shape, improve our times, and kick some bootie next year!

Me and my friend Emily from work!

I also saw my friend Sarah and her husband there, but I couldn't find Cortney to take a picture of us!

The finishers!

It was so much fun to do this tri! I'm so glad the weather worked out and that we did so well.

SUCCESS!

Lava Hot Springs

We had the opportunity at the first part of August to head on a small little trip to Lava Hot Springs! It was so much fun! Cortney had never been there before, so it was a fun little adventure. We went with Rhonda and her kids. We got there on Monday night and set up our tents and went to bed! We was tired!
Tuesday morning, we woke up, ready for a long, fun-filled day! Rhonda and I took a little run out into the rural areas of Lava. It was beautiful! Then we came back and had breakfast.

Morning faces......

Good morning!
After breakfast, we played a little ultimate frisbee. It was boys vs. girls, and unfortunately the boys kicked the girls' butts.

Then we got our swimsuits on and sunscreened up and headed to go tubing down the river! It was so much fun!

C had a hard time getting the courage up to go down the river, but the last run down, she finally did!

After tubing, we ate lunch and then it was to the pool! We love the pool at Lava Hot Springs! It has waterslides, platforms/diving boards, a climbing wall, and basketball hoops. We had a ton of fun playing on the waterslides and shooting hoops in the pool.

After we were all worn out, we headed back to the campground and had chicken fettuccini alfredo for dinner. Mmm mmm mmm. It sure hit the spot! Then the frisbee was passed around. Look at C's huge hands! He's 15.

After dinner was cleaned up, we headed to a park to play volleyball. It was girls vs. boys and guess who dominated this time? That's right! The girls! Yeah! When it got too dark to play, we headed back to camp and played some games. Then it was bedtime. What a long, fun day! We all slept really good that night! We headed home the next day after packing up. It was a short vacation, but an awesome one! We had a ton of fun!
