Cortney's Birthday and the Jordanelle Tri

I have a wonderful husband! He is so kind and patient and is very smart! He is so good to me! When I asked if it would be okay for me to do a triathlon on his birthday, he told me "of course!". To make a nice weekend of it (and to be close to the race), we stayed in Park City at the Chateaux. It was such a fun weekend!
On Saturday we headed to the race venue. The water at Jordanelle was also extremely low this year. They had a transition to the first transition. (in triathlon talk, that means there was a distance to go from the water to the transition area) It was so long! This was probably the hardest triathlon I've done. They didn't end up starting the race until 10am (this is the middle of summer!) so the race was very hot and difficult. I rocked the swim and was one of the first out of the water.  The bike part was quite comical, however. As I was on the last part of the bike, a bee flew into my mouth and stung my tongue (yes, this really happened). When it happened, I thought it was just some bug (not a bee) and spit it out. But my tongue started to go numb! Luckily for me, it didn't swell up very much - it was just annoying (and really funny!). I did finish the race! I got 27th overall (out of 112). I felt okay about it, what with all the weird circumstances of the race.
I am so lucky to have such a great supporter sacrificing his birthday to come watch me!

We went back to the hotel and got ready for the day and headed to Arby's for lunch!

Then we went back to our hotel and took a nice nap! There really is nothing like a post-race nap. Ahhhhhhh
Because my man loves Chinese food, we dined in at the Panda Express for dinner! It was awesome (I had never been there before)! We then went to Smith's to pick up some groceries for the next day.
It was such a fun weekend! I'm so grateful for this 28 year-old man who is so good to me! Love you, Cort!

Pool Party!

My sister recently installed a pool in their back yard. How awesome is that? When you have a pool, it's a must that you have a party! It was a pool party, baby. It was a cool party. A cool pool party. Pool party, baby. (Aquabats, anyone?) The idea had originated from our family reunion where we thought it would be a cool idea to have a girls day out. We decided it would be okay if boys came, too! We were very sad that the families down south weren't able to join us. :(
The pool party was a blast! There was even lunch, muddy buddies, and licorice involved. Which totally made the party that much cooler!

 This one's for you, Holly!

We swam 'til our skin was about to fall off! It was so much fun being with the fam!

Camp Loll

I had the great opportunity when I was a teenager of working at Boy Scout camps. I started out at Camp Loll. I am so grateful for the many wonderful life lessons I was able to learn while working there. I love going back to visit! We missed alumni weekend last year, so we made sure we were going to be able to go this year.
We made a party out of the trip! We were able to ride with the Hansens and the Stevens'.  Lauren and Justin also brought along their cousin Angell (who is awesome!). It was totally the party suburban! We stopped on the way for some dinner at Frosted Top in Ashton. Mmmmm. The drive in was so beautiful!

We made it to camp just in time to catch the end of the Friday night campfire. Then we hung out a bit and set up our tent. It was so good to be there! In the morning after breakfast, I headed on an awesome trail run! I only almost biffed it hard twice, ha ha!

While Cortney was still snoozing, we headed up above Weather Rock to check out the huckleberries. They were delicious!

 So cute!

 Ahhhhhhhh, I love it!

We got back from huckleberry picking and went on a tour of camp to show Angell and Cortney...

Angell the toughie!

M's favorite thing to do was play with the dirt!

Ash & Scott arrived just before lunch!

 Such beautiful eyes!

 Mmmm, rocks!

After dinner, we went to flag ceremony and then to the campfire.

After the campfire, we headed back to the lodge to hang out for a bit. Then we snuck out and went on a midnight canoe ride! It was AWESOME! The stars were absolutely incredible! It was so fun to go with Cortney and our friends!
Sunday morning, we went to church and just relaxed!

Before we left camp, we headed to show Angell Polar Bear Springs...

The drive home was a dusty good one! It's always great to spend time with our best friends in one of the greatest places on earth!
Thanks for the great memories!
